Open a mythological dictionary and read it.
Djinns are malevolent desert spirits, not blue guys (let alone blue girls). The fact that they've lost their minds is bad, of course, but their legend quite simply explains that they don't need a head and aren't comfortable with it:D
Titans were poorly drawn golems in Roman armor, and now they're Schwarzenegger doing the St. Vitus dance (or what else could make him twitch so much that he jerks every second?). There's no improvement. Titans are generally forces of chaos (hello to Heroes 4), they are immortal (hello to all heroes in Heroes 2), and they have nothing to do with lightning (again, hello to all heroes in Heroes 2).
Gargoyles – and this is simple – look at any Gothic cathedral and you'll see that neither in Heroes 3 nor in Heroes 5 is a gargoyle a gargoyle. And in general, it's not a mythical monster.
Vampire... guys, if not with a sword, then how will he break through the armor of, say, a knight? With his teeth? Then he'll have to go to the dentist... if he can even make it after being beaten with a sword:D He definitely needs to have some kind of magical attack, like in Heroes 4.
What's samurai about him? I've been racking my brains about this, and I only found a black tail. There's NOTHING samurai about the vampire in Heroes 5. Magnus, you should probably read some history books too:)
By the way, why is everyone only criticizing the various monsters from Heroes 5? As if they were perfect in Heroes 3? They were just as ugly there.
The angels there are just awful, not angels at all (I'm tired of proving why – see my posts in the discussion about the level 7 unit in Heroes 5). And they die in a way that's not very angelic.
The vampires there are hideous. Some kind of crazy mix of our Slavic upyr and a Western European literary character.
Djinns – I agree with Hacker! – are no good; they look like they came straight out of a Disney cartoon.
The zombies there are also ugly. In Heroes 5, they're neither better nor worse than in Heroes 3.
The gremlins in Heroes 3 are unclear who they are, but in Heroes 5, at least they look like the characters from the movie:)
The elf archers in Heroes 3 are more attractive, but not significantly.
The dendroids in Heroes 3 are hideous. A pole with legs. In Heroes 5, at least they're original.
Golems... it's hard to say. In Heroes 3, they were made by very lazy mages who couldn't be bothered to give them weapons, and in Heroes 5, they were made by sloppy workers, and it seems, not without the help of glue (I mean the glue for making golems, not for stimulating the creative process; although the mages in Heroes 5 might use it for that too;)).
The crossbowmen and archers of the humans are much better. The peasants are better; they may not be handsome – far from it – but they're still not ragged, whimpering with every step (that's just too much) and not hideous (that's a diagnosis, not an assessment:)) like in Heroes 4.
