Questions about the Heroes 4 map editor.

It's possible this has already been discussed, but here's the problem:
I'm creating a map and a small army. I approach neutral creatures and want them to join my side. It seems like everything is normal; I approach them, the "change owner" trigger activates, and I'm taken to a battle. That is, both squads are my color. How can I fix this? I need to simply transfer the squad to my side without a battle.
