Perhaps I'm overthinking the clues, but it seems to me that it can't be that simple. Hostor is a smart guy; he would come up with something more interesting.

It's a fairly common scenario – "the clue can't be like that." Hostor's intelligence doesn't affect whether a clue can be easy or not. I'm reminded of my last game – I came up with the clues very easily, but no one was executed based on them, even after they were solved.
