I think Equi has one significant problem. The thing is, maps created in the Equi editor won't run in WoV, and most importantly, they won't run on version 3.55.
That's true; it did happen. But there are very few such maps, and a comrade from the "Equi" forum found a solution to this problem:
- Open the map in the editor. Go to Map Properties, select the "Artifacts" tab. Uncheck "Define available artifacts." Save the map.
I checked – the recipe works (maps "Allies," "Alexandra the Great").
Well, the fact that maps designed for "Equi" don't start in WoV – what's so surprising about that? They aren't supposed to. Another big plus of "Equi" is that the mod doesn't overwrite the game's executable file:
- you can start WoV if you want, or you can run the mod. They coexist perfectly.
Before, when "Whirlwinds of War" was popular, and the mod was just released, the internet was slow and unreliable – of course, WoV was the preferred platform for creating content. Now, when the game's audience is small, the mod has grown to version 3.55, and downloading 7-10MB is no longer a problem, IMO, it's better to create content for "Equi."
