The only downside I found is that many people who don't know what it is might not want to play (and I see here that many, not knowing the theme of the set, refuse to play - but what difference does it make what the theme is if everything is explained in the roles).

Prince, absolutely. I host Mafia after Tox, and then, when there's an opening, we can easily set up a Dota game. Communication is better on Skype.
