When to take the combat skill.

You should immediately acquire the combat skill as soon as it appears in the list of available skills! Or as soon as you see it on the map. Otherwise, you'll be in trouble. I played a downloaded campaign, and my druid would have been killed in close combat (because the AI or another player isn't stupid enough to stand still), but I had the combat skill, and I wasn't killed even once.
