I'm not sure, but I remember having a similar problem when installing the fifth installment. The thing is, .cab is an archive type like zip or rar, but much less common. Therefore, not every archiver installed by default on your computer will be able to extract it. Try downloading and installing a program that can extract .cab files.
I say again, I'm not 100% sure, but I encountered this in the fifth game.
