I first entered the key in the downloadable content. One hero was unlocked. Now, for the exclusive content, it says that the key has been activated :(.

For me, it's exactly the opposite...

The map is in the skirmish-scenarios menu.
And the items are with the heroes themselves. - menu item "about the dynasty"

I asked around - they say that you need to enter it in the exclusive content... They also give you a key for the pre-order. And you need to enter it in the downloadable content.
