You can try the following:
before skipping your turn, sell 1 unit of any resource. If that doesn't help, sell another resource, and so on, until you get an acceptable result.

Thank you. I tried it (but not for long and not methodically). I think it's still complicated by the fact that the plague occurs at the beginning of the month, not the week. Or is that not important?
P.S. I didn't send the save file intentionally. It's still too early, as I'll be improving the result.
