You also need to consider that it's a fantasy village, so it could also be inhabited by specific creatures. You can include not only people, but also representatives of other nationalities (like a dwarven miner, for example. He's also a villager). But a peasant at level eight (and not just at that level) – that's too much, in my opinion.
