HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

I had the same problem... I have Heroes of Might and Magic VII. In the end, I didn't unpack it; instead, I manually moved all four mod files into the game's data folder, and it worked perfectly.
