I think I have public beta 1.3...
Run gu.exe in the game folder; this will update it to 1.4. You can also check the version in the game itself – in the bottom right corner. As for whether it's a beta or a demo, you can find this information in the registry under the registry section name – for example, I have HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft\Might & Magic Heroes VI - Public Closed Beta.
