I didn't try to explain the lore in such detail, but if you want, I can come up with an entire epic!
The core race? For elves, it's dryads; for demons, it's imps; for mages, it's gremlins! It doesn't seem like a core race.
Crabs, and do you have a better idea? As for mermaids, I think I placed them correctly – as a foundation, like with the elves.
Regarding the horses – they are fish-like, not water-based! However, I also think they didn't turn out well. :(
Sirens, okay, we'll remove the destructiveness, but they can still scream very well, so the level is deserved! :)
Octopuses are always being forced in everywhere, but if we're being so strict, we'll replace them. :(
And what's wrong with the dragon? Everything is fine with it! To prevent it from being just a simple brute, we added a constriction ability! It has a long body, it can bind and strangle anyone! Note: it's a dragon, not a snake, that's strangling! :) :(
And don't talk about a lack of seriousness! I spent 3 days balancing this race, comparing all its representatives with the 6 races. And it turned out to be quite serious, while the other races have creatures of level 7 that somehow exceed the limits. But here, isn't it smooth?  :)
