Welliton disqualified for six matches
The head of the Disciplinary Committee, Vladimir Katkov, commented on the Disciplinary Committee's decision regarding Spartak's striker, Welliton. The Brazilian striker was disqualified for six matches for rough play against CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.
"Today, at the meeting of the RFU Executive Committee, the situation with Welliton was discussed, and the entire RFU Disciplinary Committee was invited. The Executive Committee, in accordance with Article 127 of the RFU Disciplinary Regulations, provided an interpretation of Article 94 of the RFU Disciplinary Regulations. After that, a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee was held to impose sanctions on Welliton. Based on paragraph 4 of Article 94, for rough play that resulted in an injury to an opponent, Welliton was disqualified for 6 matches," the official RFU website quotes Katkov as saying.
