Does it depend on their number?

You clearly didn't understand something. So, one more time:
1. Cyclops have a passive ability called "Insensitivity".
2. During battle, the enemy deals damage to the cyclops.
3. Only when it's the cyclops' turn, that damage is subtracted from their health.

Therefore, it depends on the enemy's strength and the cyclops' defense :).
