This is the problem with the "Heroes of Might and Magic" mafia games. Gil (by default, a good player) says something. Most players immediately have a blissful smile on their faces. Someone throws out the suggestion that Gil (by default, a good player) is a member of the mafia. Gil (by default, a good player) says, "You're wrong." Everyone else nods in unison, because Gil (by default, a good player) always speaks logically and with arguments. Therefore, the person who suggested that Gil (by default, a good player) is a member of the mafia is the real mafia member and should be executed. The end.
