1. Crusaders... Double Strike definitely won't give anyone a chance, and thanks to the Amulet of Death, no vampire will be a threat to him. Excellent balance of price, quality, and quantity. You definitely won't go wrong with this choice...

Here's a recent situation. Four vampires were heading to join an army and decided to spend the night somewhere. The next morning, they were attacked by 18 wandering Crusaders supported by 18 ballistae. The vampires struggled for a long time before they managed to defeat the attacking group and continued on their way. But if they hadn't had the Amulet of Death, they would have finished the fight much faster...:D
