Why immediately go there? Instead, let's come up with something unique for this faction that others don't have. As for the last monster, I'd take that sandworm from Dune with all its features (or, like from Star Wars, the monster they used in the desert when leading someone to execution – I don't remember the name, but it's also good, and it would move underground). And, honestly, there are tons of ideas for the other units; it just takes the desire to create them.
