HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

It's easy to fake a simple log file, but messing around with a complex format isn't the best use of time; there are more important tasks. Viewing the log during the game can be implemented (and you can even press [Prt Scr] there). A chat in the castle is probably possible, but I don't think they'll get around to it, at least not within a year.
