The first time I fought the Bandit, it was at the end of the third week of the third month. My hero was level 32, with 8 Archangels, about three hundred Swordsmen, a bunch of Peasants, almost 200 Griffins, fifty Inquisitors, and about 400 Archers (I didn't lose a single one in the previous battles). The Archers were my main striking force. The Bandit had 24 Cyclops, almost 100 Chieftains, about 200 Shamans, about 2,000 Goblins, and 600 Centaurs.
The thing is, I didn't really develop my hero's magical skills – he's a warrior, after all – so the Dominate spell rarely worked; the spell would often fail. I took down his Centaurs with Archers, but the Bandit used Horde Wrath and, with his first move, wiped out almost all of my Archers. After that, it was impossible to defeat him; I replayed the battle several times :smile35:.
So, I had to wait, gather money, and build up my army. I also used all the Druids and Elves that had joined me from the Elven Stronghold, upgrading them beforehand. At the same time, I modified my cavalry and used it instead of the Angels (60 Champion Knights are more useful than 12 Archangels).
I'm attaching two save files of the battle with the Bandit – both end with my victory, but in one case, I use Hypnosis, and in the second, I don't – the second one is, in my opinion, better .
I did these battles quickly, and I even forgot to bring a cart and a tent from the city. And I didn't upgrade the cavalry as much; the Champion Knights are better – they attack two targets with their first move, and they still don't have time to heal anyone :smile27:.
I've now downloaded the two sequels. When I finish them, I'll definitely write about it, but I'm afraid it won't be soon – I have to go back to work on Monday (my vacation is over, and I won't have time again).
