I didn't like the second Soul Reaver at all. It's just the quintessence of console gameplay – run through a corridor from the Fortress to the ruins, then back, then again there, then again back, and that's what the whole game world consists of, and you have to fight your way through monotonous enemies, without even having a decent combat system, but instead, you have button-mashing. Only the cutscenes with another plot twist are good – it's like a movie. Plus, the first one had a depressing pseudo-steampunk atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic world, with such a soundtrack and exploration like in Zelda, but the second one has none of that. I even liked Blood Omen 2 more, which everyone considers a failure; at least it has blood, Cain, abilities, and more interesting gameplay.
