You need a Gauss Rifle here, or a Buzzer (if you ask Locken).

I also like the Buzzer more than the Gauss Rifle. And I like the Gauss Pistol even more, because I like pistols. But in reality, not only these two will work, but also the Vindicator, Plasma Rifle, and other high-level weapons. And the sniper rifle wasn't nerfed; the enemies are just different.
