What made you think that today the Yakuza or the Mold were out killing anyone? Maybe they skipped a turn, maybe they were killing Elephant, maybe they were killing Vegtam (although the description isn't very clear), maybe they were killing the cop himself, but there's no description again, or maybe they were killing a child, and he was in a cafe.
Or Morny/Elephant is a ninja, yes, and he was out killing today.

So, what were they talking about? About who killed Lisa. It definitely wasn't a mercenary, so don't even think about it.
