I can come up with a race in a maximum of a week, starting from scratch. As for drawing... Well, I can make some sketches, but I'm not a professional artist. Although, I'm sure that Ubisoft doesn't have just one person working on it, right?
How much intelligence does it take to draw 7 units for each of the 5 factions? Not much.
By the way, keep in mind that the developers had almost 6 years between the 5th and 6th installments. There was more than enough time for a new race and new ideas, etc.
And the fact that the sixth installment might not be great is at least because, even if everything built is displayed on the map, there will still only be functional buildings. But remember any of the previous installments: in the city, there were also houses of ordinary citizens (or graveyards with corpses for the undead), there were roads, rivers, and functional buildings were integrated into them. And here, the city will consist of unit barracks, a market, a capitol, and a couple more buildings. Cool, right?
To be honest, I want to say that the issue of the screens is very subjective. It's a matter of taste, you know. I've always dreamed of a perfect game, neat, well-thought-out, and smooth. I got it for the first time in 1999. I hope to get the second one in September of this year. At least, the promotional materials give hope for that.
