You are, of course, more knowledgeable about alternative options, but in general, there is usually one specific option that is almost unequivocally the best. For example, I recently completed the "Games of Gods" map from heroesportal: all enemies, except the last one, can be defeated normally, and it doesn't matter exactly how, but the Elemental King can only be defeated with the help of an Expert Berserker, considering his skills and the size of his army compared to mine. For this, I even had to give all the troops and artifacts to a secondary hero, because the main hero didn't have fire magic, but this one did. After that, the victory was achieved quite easily and on the first try. And most importantly: the author didn't give any indication that fire magic skill is necessary for victory! Unless, when I revealed the entire map and saw the army of this Elemental King, it became clear that things were bad, and the main hero, of course, had already received all the skills...
You say: "there are hints, you just need to notice them". Yes, but where are they?! I somehow didn't notice them! And still: the best place for hints is in the author's description.
As for "Rise of the Necromancer": I tried playing as the Witch, but I didn't succeed. The author deliberately weakened her (initial skills: 0/0/1/1, I think)! And also: there are enemy Castles nearby, which you can't even enter, because they are behind border gates, and the only "open" Castle in the Dungeon, which I reached, turned out to be "incomplete": there are only 3 levels of dwellings!.. :( The power of the enemies grows very quickly, and the Witch doesn't even have anywhere to run: as long as an enemy doesn't enter the Castle, protected by the Veil of Darkness, you can still survive, but after that...
