SoD 3.2 - the standard for most tournaments (we're not talking about TE yet, because it differs from SoD in many ways, and here if TE were to be used, then again it would have to be for everyone). All the complexities we're discussing are embedded in the tournament rules :) If it had been stated clearly - SoD 3.2 and nothing more, then there wouldn't have been any discussion. It's much easier to find an SoD executable than to later hunt for bugs figuring out who played on which version.
If anyone doesn't have this version, message me privately, I'll tell you where to get it... :)

The ideal option would have been for all of us to switch to TE.
Whoever hasn't played it has missed out a lot. TE is incredibly convenient both for players and organizers, all bugs are fixed, there is no week of monsters - and overall the organizer can manage all aspects (restrictions) of the game before it starts.

But, you're right!
Considering that many don't have that version, and newcomers don't even know what it is, the NECESSITY and possibility of a UNIFIED version boils down precisely to SoD.
Respected VDV forever wanted all willing participants to take part in the tournament, which is why he allowed all versions.
And it should have been limited to a single version or just: SoD and TE.
And as you rightly noted: "...and there wouldn't have been any discussion...";):)

Double casting is a thing of the distant past. So it's better not to tempt the uninitiated... :D

Since I no longer play anything below SoD, I won't see that bug firsthand.

Well, why not? There is - 3.0 / 3.1 / 3.2
Version zero and one can easily be patched up to 3.2

Yes, I forgot it starts with 3.0.
I've even come across patches that upgrade to 3.2.
I immediately bought myself the Anthology (because of 4), and it had SoD 3.2

Now that's right, that's our way!..
Because a strange rumor was going around... Well, I think it was just a rumor... :)
