Where the baobabs
Reach for the slope,
On a meadow lived
A pink elephant.
He had a lot of
Joyful strength,
He didn't wear
Boring shoes.
Lions, and even tigers,
And a silly jackal
Moved more quietly
When he slept.
He was a bit bulky
On the outside,
With kind ears,
And a gentle gaze. But the days of change
Drew near:
A cunning hunter
Took him captive.
And in the zoo,
On a cloudy day,
He became an ordinary
Gray elephant.
The animals laugh,
And joke about him:
"What a handsome fellow!
Gray as a house!"
