Axel is definitely the strongest hero in Haven. No griffons can even compare to him. Paladins or Knights of Isabel are the units that accumulate through retraining. And with Axel's bonuses to defense, attack, and charge attack, they become simply monsters.
I don't really understand what there is to discuss here.
Griffons are a great unit and very useful. But they can't even be compared to paladins, especially under Axel's leadership.
