Great, I don't want to deal with schoolkids and noobs.
How can you turn your nose up at something like that?
It's not just mindlessly clicking a memorized button combination on the quickbar, casting a series of identical spells and abilities, like I did in MMORPGs. Here, you need to build a strategy, somehow survive, come up with something, and so on.
Come on, think about it. You can't block the animals, so even a simple fight like a fight with people in Gothic turns into an even simpler fight with animals, where you just stand against a wall and swing back and forth, or run around. The maximum amount of tactics you can use is to climb onto a ledge and shoot arrows from there.
There are a lot of these things in MMORPGs, but few in Gothic. There are slightly more than normal.
Not at all. Gothic consists of eighty percent of these things, as do many open-world games. Exploration, grinding, and killing increasingly stronger monsters, a rudimentary dialogue system, a role-playing system built exclusively on combat skills (sneaking and lockpicking don't count; they exist in MMOs as well). Twenty percent is the presence of some kind of plot (which even in MMOs still happens, lol, when a series of related quests with a pseudo-history are dumped on you during the game, or you are sent to "conquer" certain territories from mobs) and more complex quests than in MMORPGs. That's it.
