It puts me off because it's nonsense. I'm already sick and tired of all sorts of aliens with blasters from M&M. As if Heroes needed them too! Whether they are magical, gill-breathing, or whatever.
There are many races and creatures in fantasy that could be added to Heroes without mocking the plot and the game universe itself. If Forge was rejected by enraged fans, it is naive to hope they will be pleased with some sorcerous Martians.
One doesn't have to look far for an example - Age of Wonders: Shadow magic. While the new race of nomads looked quite fitting and continued the traditions of the first part, the shadow demons and syrons looked somewhat out of place.
