We used to play SOD with 4-minute turns and didn't complain.

In St. Petersburg, we started playing Divided Loyalties with 2-minute turns, QC (Quick Combat), 3-hand battles per game, and a maximum game time of 3 hours. This was back in 1999... We complained a lot, though ;) But that was the tournament format, and tournaments were held every month, and even more often...
