If HotA is so wonderful, then why bring up obviously false arguments like this:
One can easily come up with examples where you can't rely on morale and need to take action. A typical example is hiding Angels on Jeb. You can't leave them for the second week, and even one bad morale check (not necessarily even in the first round) can ruin an army.
1. It's not easy to come up with examples.
2. In SoD, I always managed to take it in the first week, and not using a simple strategy – 7 pikemen, a ballista, and a level 1 Valkyrie. As a rule, I used a more elaborate method – a pumped-up Zelka, a hero with tactics, and the worst-case scenario was a 116 creature with a purchased Angel. BUT this is not the second week!
3. Vic, you lack the experience of playing SoD to be truly convincing. That is, when Kobra says that HotA is better than SoD, his opinion is accepted as absolute truth because he has mastered SoD. But you have the "I haven't read it, but I condemn it" approach. You can judge like that (quite seriously), but the position, if you look closely, is shaky (what if someone decides that you simply haven't learned to play SoD properly?).
4. Furthermore: why even SoD players, when switching to HotA, play with morale turned off. The assumption is that, since in HotA the starting armies have been balanced and there is always plenty of money, no one will rely on the fact that the opponent has a weaker army or less money. That is, morale turns from a secondary factor into a primary one. Therefore, they ban it, sometimes without even realizing why. And when morale is removed, other quirks of the generator come to the forefront. For example, every HotA player is ecstatic when they get long roads on the exit from the spawn on the HL+U map. In principle, this is even worse than morale checks, but it's just unclear how to fix it, except to switch to a mirror map.
And what am I getting at – so that HotA players don't get bored and start mocking without reason:
MANIFESTO AGAINST TIRAS.
or how to win against a player at the RP level using the "one trick pony" method on the 8mm6a map.
If we are lucky enough to play as Tyraxor, then in the first week, the main thing is scouting and leveling up the hero. The goal is to find utopias, preferably 2-3 of them. If utopias are found, then we prepare a strike force to take them. In approximately 60% of games, this will be wolves – a quantity of 80+ (home town, hidden stash, etc.). If there are no utopias, then we scout the Conservatory Hives. All battles are conducted simply because there is a food supply – goblins, birds, and wolves with a speed of 9-10, so even fighting with weak creatures is extremely easy on autopilot. And if a level 7 creature is recruited and purchased, then you can even aim for an RP player. If there are no utopias, then we rush, and as a rule, we defeat the opponent on day 117+.
