We will never know exactly what it was like. Based on the monographs I have read about this period, I can say that it was a very complex, contradictory, and heroic time. A time when the USSR caught up with the leading world powers in just a few years. A time when, in 1937, ration cards were abolished, and the selection of goods in stores became richer than it is now. It was a time of fierce struggle between supporters of world revolution and realists. A difficult time. An ambiguous time.
