We played back on February 2nd. Apparently I was re-rolled to a double for me, by month 1 week 1 day 3 I safely ran to my opponent's town. The spawn exit is fast, but immediately onto sand, at first I was upset, what to build with? But still I scraped together enough gold for magogs in my citadel and magogs in my opponent's fort. I scouted three Hives, three Griffin Conservatories, and two Dragon Utopias, there's Tyraxor, Gunnar, and Broghild, I'm leveling the latter two. Oh yes, also the tactics of Charna, Thunis, and Dace helped a lot in the fights:).
After that, the game was non-contact almost until the very end of the fourth week, each was consuming their 50% of the map, and by the end of the fifth week there was almost nothing left to eat. For a while I was calm, I had enough gold to buy out the power stack, I wasn't too far behind in stats, but when I saw Gurnisson also with a decent power stack, I didn't seek contact — a noob just scouted another Dragon Utopia near a village. It, unfortunately, gave nothing for stats, but nearby I found an enemy sub-hero, the Shackles of War allowed me to get the Helm of the Sixth as a trophy, which was exactly what I was missing, and the Book of Earth to go with my already owned one:smile20:. Oh yes, also the Grail, Sword +5, and so on. The guy was loaded, better than a couple of Dragon Utopias:).
Thus the stats evened out. Gurnisson just happened to be within reach, 1 tile away from a well. I decide not to wait another two growths, I attack.
