I don't know about you, but my monitor isn't big enough to comfortably display even 1,000 skeletons, 500 zombies and ghosts, and the rest, and on the other hand, a couple of thousand peasants:smile04:

In RTS games, one unit is usually one unit, although the count there isn't in the thousands. The "sense of presence" in Heroes is more about the overall fantasy atmosphere of the game, but it depends on many factors, not just how the creature models are drawn.
