Sacred Haven of Debauchery

Although it's kind of like a civilization game, it's just set in space.

Orion is better than Civilization, especially since I don't like that one either. In terms of gameplay, it's closer to Master of Magic, although it's still quite different (no magic, of course). I highly recommend it; it's quite easy to get into, and it's just as interesting to play as Heroes.
