Calculating the dielectric dependence of ethereal attraction for different types of metals is a thankless task. That is, it would undoubtedly be more logical to allocate gold to hiring troops rather than crafting golems. But the logic here is simple: you create an atmosphere of adventure, and you get an audience of consumers. 3DO is far from perfect, but thanks to them, we have this forum.
