Well, my absolute favorite is Vladislav Krapivin. There are no alternatives here.

Dostoevsky is still only 2nd, but among the classics, he is undoubtedly the first.

But I don't really like Bunin, Chekhov, or Tolstoy – although, of course, I have read them. I liked a lot, but I can't say that it really resonated with me. Apparently, it's just not my thing.

Zamyatin with his "We" really resonated with me, the very psychological Dostoevsky resonated with me, I like Goncharov, and I liked Bulgakov (I really love "The White Guard").

And Dostoevsky – you probably need to read him not just once to understand. What is unclear and unattractive at first becomes special nuances, and you read it with close attention the 2nd, 3rd, or 5th time. I like books and writers that you need to reread to fully understand, to feel.
