I think that when it comes to Chaos, empathy would be better than retribution. And machines are also desirable, although it's problematic to get them.

This is true for version 3.0; in 3.1, machines have significantly lost their relevance (not so much because of the difficulty in obtaining them, but because the "Enchanted Ballista" doesn't allow the hero to move, and without this ability, its damage is laughable).
