I never had a licensed copy, and I haven't had any problems with templates either. The issue is most likely either with the template file itself or its location.
Upload your rmg.txt file here, the one you're trying to use, along with a description: map size, number of players, template name. Someone will check it on their end.

Here, everything works fine with this file in Armageddon's Blade, but in The Shadow of Death, other templates launch, even though I extracted the file from The Shadow of Death.:confused:

I'm creating an XL map with a dungeon and no water, with maximum monster strength, for 2 or 3 players, using the "Meeting in Muzgob" template.

In my opinion, this is the most challenging template.
