They require significantly less money, have almost the same amount of hit points as paladins, can shoot and fight in melee, occupy 1 square, and are the toughest among level 5 units. If they also have teleport, they become incredibly powerful. And elves won’t be able to defeat monks easily; I’ve seen this happen many times, and I’ve experienced it myself. Monks don’t even fall in groups of 10; imagine what happens when there are around 150-180 of them.
