Appleseed (2004). 3D animation. A film based on a manga from the 80s. Here's a brief description:
The year is 2131. The non-nuclear war that nearly annihilated humanity is over. There are no victors. Special forces soldier Deunan Nat survived and, under unclear circumstances, ends up in the city of Olympus, which has become the center of the Earth. Her former lover, Briareos, who brought Deunan to Olympus, lost his body in battles for North Africa and became a cyborg.
Half of Olympus's population consists of clones of specially selected human individuals, cybernetically modified and enhanced – bio-roids. Their nature is such that it eliminates social conflicts and instability. The city and its population are controlled by the ruling elite and Gaia – a cybernetic brain. What are bio-roids, and is Olympus the utopia that humanity, torn by conflict, dreamed of? Or should the reasons for humanity's collapse be sought in Gaia?

In short, it's a typical cyberpunk + mecha story. At the same time, it's an incredibly awesome action movie in places. Some scenes are at the end of the post. It all starts with a Paul Oakenfold track and such an epic battle that you just want to jump and scream. I haven't seen such well-executed action in a long time. One drawback is that the "make a decisive move in the last second" trope is present. The film frankly reminded me of "Terminator Salvation" and "The Matrix," which, by the way, speaks in its favor. The characters' facial expressions are a bit off, but you get used to it after about 20 minutes. The soundtrack is perfect throughout. Essentially, it's a great action movie, and I gave it a 9 out of 10, mainly because I rewatched those scenes again.

Scene one:
A battle with "anonymous" enemies in the ruins of the city. The beginning of the film. This scene is also the coolest in the entire film. A girl with a sawn-off shotgun, a tank flying through the window – my respects.

Another scene:
A car chase and a fight with robot girls. It should be noted that these "girls" use the same weapons as the main villain in "Iron Man 2." Is it plagiarism? Who knows. This time, I'll express my respect for the boyfriend of the blonde fighter – a fist strike through the body is impressive.

Appleseed Ex Machina. The second part. This time, instead of an R rating, it's PG-13, so there were no scenes like a cyborg crushing a human head with his hands. But there was action, energetic and bombastic. This time, all the action scenes are roughly at the same level, although it was cool when Briareos ran out of ammo and, while sitting in a huge "landmate," pulled out a naturally large sword. What else? The film is full of scenes of Briareos taking down opponents in groups: at the beginning of the film, he was shooting with two hands in different directions, and by the end, he was shooting from two guns on the "landmate" and had another gun on his own... The soundtrack wasn't surprising this time. In terms of graphics, the film is better, more technically advanced – after all, it's 2007. In terms of plot, this time it was very noticeable that it was made by the same creator as GiTS – again, hackers, a massive mess and one guilty person. The mass psychosis scene reminded me of Resident Evil.
