It's easier to call the director of the sun and tell him to have the gnomes in the solar boiler room add more coal.
Perhaps they didn't know the phone number and decided to add something more effective than coal themselves. In general, read one of my previous posts about assumptions in science fiction films.
But what does it matter who has the more authoritative source? If Einstein said, "It's like this, and it can't be any other way," should we simply take his words as an axiom?
Science is constantly evolving, and so are our views. Now, for example, many scientific theories about faster-than-light speed have been developed, which the old Einstein didn't even know about.
The most obvious example is the wormhole, plus it's interesting if its exits move relative to each other. There are also theories similar to the warp bubble around an object, relative to which time and space are distorted, but all of them, like the wormhole, boil down to creating a space with negative energy density, the so-called "exotic matter." In fact, an example of such exotic matter has been found: the Casimir vacuum - an ideal vacuum in which a pair of virtual particles (e.g., a proton and an antiproton) is formed every moment and instantly annihilated, i.e., (+1) + (-1) = 0. This is absolute zero. As far as I know, successful experiments have been carried out on very small scales to create such an environment.
