I disagree with the statement that science fiction is purely psychological; it's more reasonable to consider it as a synthesis of psychology and scientific theory about advanced technologies, and the latter is actually the key to the genre and provides the spectacle. As for the "hellish" plot, I've already expressed my opinion – it's a template scheme for horror movies; people go crazy, what can you do?
Analyzing science fiction films with both a psychological and a scientific approach and pointing out inconsistencies with reality seems a bit trivial; of course, you can find fault with anything. The plot is somewhat шаблонный, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to find an original plot in science fiction these days; everything has been explored thoroughly, in my opinion. I didn't like Dead Space because of its шаблонность, although for some reason, almost everyone likes it. It's true that it's an example from a slightly different genre, but it's still science fiction.
