As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in my opinion, it's better to come up with something original than to copy everything. The result may be appealing and quite playable (yes, I love the fourth game), but I want variety.
By the way, yes. This path is a bit risky, but it's the most interesting. And the best approach is a balance between borrowing and innovation. I like the new features that will be in the sixth game (resource reduction, territory control, dynamic arenas, a new role-playing system, etc.). I also miss some features from other parts (moving guardians from the fourth game, I hope for mixed armies (as in King's Bounty. Although this feature was in the fourth and fifth games, but it was implemented most interestingly there), alt-grades and ATB from the fifth game). It's not necessary to borrow absolutely everything, but it's important to use something really interesting.
