This is an artifact. A lucky rabbit. It's kept in your pocket and gives +1 to luck. It's a replacement for the boring clover.

I doubt it's a cursor; it seems like a shadow falls from it.

Did you find this out on some websites, or did you just assume? A shadow does seem to fall on it, but if you ask me, it doesn't quite fit in with the category of items/artifacts that heroes pick up... because usually, artifact items are accompanied by a specific glow animation on the map. Although, again, this could be attributed to the fact that some things in the game weren't fully thought out.
