I looked at the map of the old part, and there the snowy lands were located in the south, and the desert in the north, etc. Usually, they do it the way it is in reality, and that's boring.

A little nitpicking: for an observer in the southern hemisphere, let's say, the "desert" will be north, and the "snowy lands" will be south, so "reality" implies both options.

Regarding magic, Irdiss correctly described everything according to the elements. Nowhere was it said that it is impossible to develop non-specialized magic; rather, the opposite is true – any race will have access to any school (it's not entirely clear with the Orcs yet). How exactly the races' inclination to a particular school manifests itself has not been stated. In the description, it was mentioned that Necromancers, in addition to their primary magic (which corresponds to their dragon), prefer the magic of Earth and Darkness. Therefore, it may turn out that for each race, there will be one specialized magic and two non-specialized, but preferred, magics.
