If you understood, you would know that your famous canons quite often repeat the geographical outlines of our real world, sometimes even meticulously, while a well-thought-out original geography is not a common occurrence, if not a rare one.

Excerpt from A. Kosareva's article "Fantasy and the Middle Ages" from 08.2000:
Any work of art, whether fantastic or realistic, creates its own special inner world. The world of the author's imagination. The world of the work of art, where there is its own space and time, where the development of the plot is determined by the laws of the world created by the author. In fantasy, this general pattern for art as a whole is especially pronounced. Authors of fantasy novels create an absolutely new world, which has its own geography, history, language... In almost any fantasy, we will find a map depicting mountains, lakes, cities... In his "Silmarillion," J.R.R. Tolkien created a new mythological system, described the creation of the world and its history in its early stages, i.e., he wrote the Bible of a non-existent culture... and so on.
