Heroes 6 - Discussion

I read the lore and was surprised by how many Russian names there are. And the map of Ashan strongly resembles the geography of the modern world. I wonder what that means?

This principle was borrowed from Warhammer. The Warhammer map also resembles a map of our world. There are even local "Slavs" there (Kislev). The Holy Empire is an analogue of our Europe. At the same time, each duchy of the Holy Empire has a specific parallel with a particular European state.

Duchy of the Griffin - Russia/Eastern Europe
Duchy of the Stag - Ireland
Duchy of the Unicorn - England
Duchy of the Wolf - Germany
Duchy of the Bull - Spain and Italy
Duchy of the Grey Hound - France

That's how it is. And all of this was invented before the 5th installment.
