3D doesn't really matter and doesn't affect the gameplay. But the graphics of the fifth installment, especially the cutscenes on the game engine, still make me sick.

It does affect the gameplay; the interaction with the world has changed (you can rotate the map). The transition to 3D is a natural evolution; two-dimensional sprites are a thing of the past, and I have nothing against it. The graphics themselves are fine in the fifth game; it's a strategy game, not some Crysis. The problem is that not everyone likes the "fairy tale" visual style. And the cutscenes on the engine are indeed terrible.
